Val Slott

Hi--my name is Val Slott, and I have been a part of the Hallowell community since 1990.  Excited and energized only begin to describe how I feel about being part of the Hallowell family.  I am thankful every day that I get to work with such wonderful students, families, and colleagues!  I started my career in education in 1977 as a bilingual teacher (English and Spanish) at the Youth Development Center in Bensalem, Pennsylvania where I taught for 13 years.  I also had the pleasure of volunteering for 20 years in the Adult Literacy program at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf.  I enjoy being outside, tie-dyeing, reading, hiking, kayaking, hanging out in the hammock, watching movies, playing with our new puppy, and spending time with family and friends.

Stephanie Shirk

Howdy! My name is Stephanie Shirk and I am thrilled to be joining our school community as a school counselor! I hold my B.A. in Psychology from Susquehanna University, and my M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from Temple University. My journey at Hallowell began in 2021 when I worked as a counseling intern with Val Slott. I am so excited to continue collaborating with the students and families at Hallowell to ensure that every student has a safe, equitable, enriched, and exciting school year. When I'm not at school, I enjoy practicing self-care by dancing, going to the gym, traveling, making/listening to music, being with friends, and reading.
